Argy Lee “Joe” Hager, Retired Major, USAF, 91, of Bedford, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024. Joe was born and raised in West, VA on August 21, 1932 where he was living and working in the coal mines. In 1949, he enlisted in the military as a senior in high school. He met the love of his life in Glee Club, Arbutus Mae “Boots” Steele, and she was the mother of his five children. Joe and Boots were married Aril 3, 1951. Sadly, she passed away on April 20, 2011. Joe was also preceded in death by his son, Ronald Lee Hager; and daughter, Rhonda Elaine Hager (Darragh). He is survived by his daughter, Roxanne Janece Hager of Altavista; sons, Richard Wayne Hager of FL, Roger Dale Hager of Altavista; and numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
