Patricia Mae Campbell Harcum, 87, of Bedford, died Tuesday, March 31, 2020. She was born in South Charleston, WV on January 6, 1933, a daughter of the late Tyree Luck Campbell and Nannie Foley Campbell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Nelsonia Thurston. She is survived by a son, Joseph “Joe” Russell Woodford; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Carla Gale Ragland, 75, of Bedford, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 30, 2020. She was born in Fontana Village, NC on May 19, 1944, a daughter of the late Frank Uriah Payne and Mary Irene Brady Payne of Knoxville, TN. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Wayne Robertson; and daughter Rhonda Robertson Mills. She was a pastor’s wife and a retired Juvenile Investigator. Carla is survived by her husband of 50 years, Rev. Earl Corbert Ragland of Bedford, Virginia; four children, Matthew Mark Robertson (Regina) of Lynchburg, Virginia, Robin Ragland Bass (Alvin) of Wilson, NC, Murdock Conrad Ragland (Margaret) of Bedford, Virginia, Earl Corbert Ragland II (Dale) of Charleston, SC; sister, Loy Molchan; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 12:00 Noon, on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at New Beginnings Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. W.A. Mills officiating. Jeffrey Wayne Key, 58, of Bedford, died Wednesday, March 25, 2020. He was born in Bedford, VA on January 19, 1962, a son of Peggy Dooley Key and the late Granville Herbert Key. In addition to his mother he is survived by his daughters, Laurie Patterson and husband, Jason, Brenda Underwood and husband Stephen; son, Johnathan “Johnny” Key and wife, Chelsea; brothers, Bill Key and wife, Margaret, David Key and wife, Laura; sister, Jody Lineberry and husband, Rixey; grandchildren, Emily and Jacob Patterson, and Stephen and Jesse Underwood; special friend, Teresa Zimmerman; special dog, Maggie; therapy dog, Dexter; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Morris Alvin Coffey, Sr., 78, of Buena Vista, died Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at his residence.  He was born in Rockbridge County on November 4, 1941, a son of the late, Roy E. Coffey, Sr. and Sarah Margaret Wiseman Coffey.  Morris was retired from General Electric.  He is survived by his wife, of 40 years, Margie Coffey; a son, Morris A. Coffey, Jr. (Sherrie); two daughters, Renae Jenkins (Steven) and Kimberley Cole; his grandchildren, Jennie (Daniel), Sarah (Shane), Lizz (Shawn), Dustin, A.J., Logan, Andrea, Joshua and Zachary; 13 great-grandchildren; his sister, Barbara Crissman (Clyde); two brothers, Roy E. Terry Wayne Overstreet, 43, of Bedford, died March 18, 2020. He was born in Bedford, VA on March 23, 1976, a son of Michael Mehaffey and wife, Leslie and the late Wanda “Susie” Overstreet. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Edward Burks Overstreet, James and Edna Welch; and his aunt, Loretta Overstreet. He was employed at Bedford Weaving Mill. Terry is survived by his girlfriend, Kelly Buchanan; children, Kayden Overstreet, Jennah Overstreet; uncles, Danny Lee Overstreet, Edward B. “Junior” Overstreet, Jr., Wayne Overstreet (Kelly); aunt, Pam Shepherd (Tim); and numerous cousins and other family. Billy Robert Gordon, Sr, 71, of Moneta, VA died Monday, March 16, 2020. He was born in Bedford, VA on February 2, 1949, a son of the late Roy Gordon and Thelma Rice Gordon. In addition to his parents Billy was preceded by his wife, Linda Sue Carter Gordon; one brother; and four sisters. He was a sweet and kind man, never had a mean thing to say about anyone. He could fix or rig anything to work. He always had a big garden with the best tomatoes. Billy enjoyed farming, cows, and his many chickens. He loved his family and his dog Queenie dearly and would do anything for anyone. He will be greatly missed by all. Billy is survived by his son, Billy Gordon, Jr. and wife, Tracie; daughters, Cathy Overstreet and husband, Troy, Susan Mullins and husband, Chad; grandchildren, Justin Morgan, Amber Morgan, Coy Mullins, Hope Mullins, Sky Mullins, Onna Mullins; one brother; two sisters and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Cheryl Gross Idziak, 65, of Bedford, was born into eternal life at her home on Sunday March 15, 2020. She was born in Camden, NJ on November 19, 1954 a daughter of the late James Francis Gross and Margaret Palmieri Gross. Cheryl was a loving, dedicated wife and stay at home mom to her two children. She also loved spending quality time with her five grandchildren. She was a regular volunteer at her church giving communion to parishioners at some of the local nursing homes. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, James T. Idziak; daughters, Lisa Ranger and husband, Brian of Forest,VA, Jeryl Callahan and husband, Tim of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Leanne-15, Hannah-14, Victoria-14, Aaron-12, and Elijah-11; sister, Janice Melosky of Vero Beach, FL; nephew, John Eric Melosky of Vero Beach, FL; and a cousin, Connie Caputo of Pittsburg, PA. A private family funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2020 at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church with Father Salvador Añonuevo presiding. JoAnne White Barfield, 76, of Goode, departed this life on Saturday, March 14, 2020. She was born in Bedford, VA on April 5, 1943, a daughter of the late Asa Russell White and Nora Orange White. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 34 years, Johnny Harkey Barfield; brothers, George, Berkley, Elbert, Wallace, and Joe White; sisters, Elizabeth White, Lura White, and Sarah Stanley; and step-daughters, Wendy Stubbs and Jean Jones. She enjoyed the last eleven months of her time here on earth living with her twin sister Betty at her residence in Bedford. JoAnne is survived by her twin sister, Betty Woolfolk; two sons, Leonard William “L.W.” Craig, Jr. and wife, Barbara, Alan Russell “Rusty” Craig and wife, Cheryl; grandchildren, Charis E. Bostain and husband, Jonah; Jessica Ann Kennedy and husband, Thomas, Justin Craig and wife, Chelsea, Caleb Craig and wife, Kandace; great-grandson, Judson Bostain; and soon to be born great-granddaughter, Ayda Marie Craig. JoAnne is also survived by her wonderful step-children, Robert Barfield and wife, Sue, Teresa Bryant and husband, Bruce, Johnny Barfield, Jr. and wife, Dorene; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty Lou White, 73, of Bedford, died Saturday, March 14, 2020. She was born in Lakewood, NJ on August 5, 1946, a daughter of the late James Wilmer White and Ethel LeCompte White. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a son, David Allen Miller. She was a retired teacher. Betty is survived by her son, James Miller and Tate Culbreth; daughter, Donna M. Lewis and Eric; grandchildren, Brittany Miller, Shyanne Byer, Trisha Carter, Brandi Carter; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Carol Carpenter, Gail Hultay, Linda Curry, and Donna Brashears. Charles Malcolm Bailey III, 78, Lynchburg, died Friday, March 13, 2020. He was born in Lynchburg, VA on March 8, 1942, a son of the late, Charles Malcolm Bailey Jr. and Ruth Neighbors Bailey. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Bohon; and father-in-law, Buford H. Nash. He proudly served in the United States Army Reserve. He was a retired letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He was very loved and will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
