Barbara Ann Bryant Frasik, 81, died peacefully June 17, 2021 at the Bedford Hospice House in Bedford, VA. She spent the majority of her life in Michigan and always considered it home. Having said that, she greatly appreciated the new and kind friends she met here in Virginia. Special thanks are necessary for the terrific staff at The Bedford Hospice House, including the wonderful nursing staff and the social worker, Angie. Our family would also like to thank Dr. Patricia Richardson, MD, who provided unsurpassed and compassionate care for Mrs. Frasik for many years. Barbara was born on April 5, 1940 in Cincinnati, OH. Her father was Blaine Bryant and her mother was Orpha Randolph Bryant. She was blessed with four kind and loving siblings, Irene Fagan (Tennessee), Edna Nelson (Virginia), Dave Bryant (Michigan), and Steve Bryant (Florida). She was also blessed with two wonderful and caring spouses. She was married to Noel MacGregor until his premature and untimely death on September 24, 1975. It is rare to find the love of your life but she won the marriage lottery twice when she married John “Jack” Frasik, who passed on June 14, 2004. Both departures left giant voids in Barbara’s life but she pressed on focusing on grandchildren, whom she doted on. She orchestrated elaborate birthday parties for her grandchildren and on one occasion donned a gorilla suit and chased her grandson around a busy restaurant. These are the lengths she would go to see smiles on the faces of her grandchildren. Barbara is survived by two sons, Michael Blaine MacGregor (Michigan) and Mark Douglas MacGregor (Virginia); grandchildren include Mike’s sons, Cullen MacGregor (Florida) and Noel MacGregor II (Michigan), Mark and Connie’s sons, Nathan MacGregor (Sarah) (North Carolina), Shane MacGregor (Washington, DC), and Logan MacGregor (Landyn) (Virginia); great-grandchildren, Mya Carole Ann MacGregor (3 yrs. old), and Jack Thomas MacGregor 1 ½ yrs. old). She was blessed to see them grow to the walking, talking, entertaining stage of life. Barbara Frasik was not the black sheep of the family but she could, on occasion lean toward a vibrant shade of grey. She was spunky and sassy, and at times incorrigible; but she had a heart of gold, loved to laugh, and got a great measure of joy out of life. She liked to travel, read, play ping-pong, and beat all comers at any game that required a terrific vocabulary. She will be missed. For those unable to attend her memorial service it can be viewed on Facetime. Flowers provided will be used at the memorial but in lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the American Heart Association in her honor. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel, 1235 Walnut St., Bedford, VA. A reception following the memorial will gather at the Neighbors Place, in Lynchburg, VA. Arrangements by Burch-Messier Funeral Home, Bedford, 540-586-7360.
