Susan E Wissemann, 84, of Botetourt, passed away October 30, 2023, at home with her family in Daleville, Virginia after a long battle with kidney disease. Family will celebrate her life later this coming summer where her ashes will be spread along with her husband in Brooklyn New York overlooking Manhattan and in Stoddard New Hampshire along with her Mom Mildred Mason and Father Horace Mason. Susan was born in Brooklyn New York on August 3, 1939, gained her degree at Dean College in Franklin, Massachusetts. Susan worked at the Rockefeller Center, in New York City later devoted herself solely to raising her children. She married Warren R. Wissemann, where they bought their first house in West Islip, NY in 1965. Susan moved to Fincastle, Virginia in 2001 where she spent her time with family and enjoying antiquing. Susan is survived by her daughter, Meredith Failla; son, Christopher Wissemann; son-in-law, Joseph Failla; daughter-in-law, Carla Wissemann; grandchildren, Tyler Failla, Kyle Failla, Brian Wissemann, Brianna Wissemann, and Bridgette Wissemann; along with great- grandchild, Anthoney Failla. Elishi Yaple Giles, Jr. (Eley), 82, of Evington, moved on from this life on October 27, 2023. He was the son of Elishi Y. Giles, Sr. and Ida Virginia Culley. He was born in Richmond, VA on August 3, 1941. He retired a maintenance supervisor from Flowers Baking Company of Lynchburg. Eley was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of many years, Marie Martin Giles, his sister, Birdie Abrahms and brother, Henry Giles, his son Linwood Giles and his grandson Tony Bryant. Eley is survived by his children, Elishi Y. Giles, III (Lee) and wife Lisa, Ida Hess (Tami) and husband James, Winnie Allen and husband Ricky, and Edna Carr and husband Larry. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Fueger; grandchildren, Shawn Grigg Stephan Grigg, James Grigg, Lauren Carr, Joshua Giles, Zachary Gordon, Elishi Giles, IV, Trevor Giles, Dakhota Dove, James Hess and Daniel Hess, Jessica Davis, Tiffani Hall, Kimberly Hess and Eric Hess; and great-grandchildren Mackenzy, Josie, Nathaniel, Brandon, Ares, Dixie, Tucker, Easton, Elishi, Draco, Leland, Riley, Autumn, Devin, Jailyn, Liliana, Alexander, Kacey, Dante, Zayne, Axel, Timothy and Brandy. In loving memory of Gregory “Greg” Harold Jarvis, who passed away peacefully on October 27, 2023, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on August 12, 1973, in Roanoke, Virginia, Greg was the oldest son of Mary Gale and Harold “Hal” Jarvis. He lived a life filled with the wisdom of self-teaching, unwavering faith, and the unconditional love of his family. Greg is preceded in death by his father, Hal Jarvis. He is survived by his wife, Anna Gammon Jarvis, their three children, Joseph, Madelyn, and Eliot, his mother, Gale, and his brother, Steve, in addition to many cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins who have remained a significant part of his life since childhood. Greg served with distinction aboard the USS John C. Stennis as part of the US Navy, before returning to Roanoke to build a home and life with his high school sweetheart, Anna. They navigated life’s highs and lows for three decades, a testament to steadfast love and understanding. Greg was a devoted father to Joe, Maddie, and Eliot. They will forever cherish memories of bike rides, camping trips, hunting at dawn, nerf gun battles, lessons on the stick shift, and serene moments fishing on the river. When Greg’s illness led him to an early retirement in February of this year, he was just shy of working 25 years at Yokohama Tire Factory. It was there he fostered deep-rooted connections with many coworkers, who became a beacon of friendship and support during his most challenging days. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on November 11, 2023, at Windsor Hills United Methodist Church in Roanoke, Virginia. Family and friends are invited to attend and join in celebrating Greg, who touched so many lives.  A graveside service will be held on a later date with Greg’s family at Greenwood Cemetery, in Bedford, Virginia, where he will be placed to rest near his beloved father, Hal. Teresa Jane Fitzgerald, 55, of Lexington, Va passed away October 25th, 2023 in her home surrounded by family and friends. She was born August 18th, 1968, in Lexington, Va the daughter of late Jay Hugh Madison and Judy Jeanette Madison. She was the youngest of 3 siblings. On March 13th, 1996 she married Vernon Thomas Fitzgerald who survives. She is preceded in death by a grandson Corbon David Smith and a special friend Stacy Marie Hartless. She is survived by her daughter Kelli Bryant, son and daughter-in-law, Jayson and Lisa Hartless, daughter and daughter-in-law, Rebecca and Samantha Hartless; grandchildren Colton Smith, Grayson Hartless, Nevaeh Henderson, Karson Blayde, Destiny Bryant, Colton Johnson, Madison Hartless; sister Kathy Madison (Daniel) and sister Janet Madison (Ray); special friends Jeffrey Hartless and Jenny “Duckie” Hartless-Higgins; two very special children Destiny and Steven Hartless; fur babies Cooper and Khloe. On October 23, 2023, Artie Welch Overstreet, 94, of Thaxton, VA, passed away peacefully at the Bedford County Nursing Home with her family at her side.  Artie was the biological mother of seven children. However, many people considered Artie their surrogate mother. Everyone who met Artie was touched by her kindness, warmth and love of God. Artie Welch Overstreet was born in Bedford County, VA to the late Tilghman Welch and Gladys Mae Dooley. She was also preceded in death by the love of her life, husband, Wesley Overstreet; sons, Ronnie Overstreet, James Welch and Eugene (Punkin) Welch; son-in-law; three grandchildren; and one great -grandson. Artie is survived by her sister, Gladys Mae Strangee, Bedford, VA; children, Wesley Overstreet, Jr. (Renee) Staffordsville, VA, Diane Carter (Jimmy) Thaxton, VA, Jeannette Harding Bedford, VA, Donald Overstreet (Janice) Botetourt, VA; daughter-in-law, Wanda Welch; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.  Artie was a faithful 50 year + member of Cool Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church, Thaxton, VA. Artie served as Church Secretary, Women’s Auxiliary Treasurer, Bible School Teacher, etc.  She leaves behind a legacy of dedication, faithfulness and servitude. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Bedford County Nursing Home, Patricia Jam (neighbor), Joann (niece) for their caring, loving and wonderful support. Betty Jean Brown Creasey, 78, of Bedford, passed away just two days after her husband, Norman Bruce Creasey on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. She was born in Moneta, VA on June 7, 1945 a daughter of the late George Brown and Helen Newman Brown. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rose Marie Creasey; and her siblings, Gracie B. Shelton, Roy Brown, Lucille B. Ayers, Melvin Brown, Norma B. Overstreet and Tommy Brown. She was retired from Ericsson. She is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey Creasey, Billy Creasey and wife Christine; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Rose Creasey. A memorial service will be held for both Betty and Bruce at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel, 1235 Walnut Street, Bedford with Rev. Norman Bruce Creasey, 84, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023. He was born in Bedford, VA on July 18, 1939 a son of the late Aubrey Bruce Creasey and Willie Mae Roberts Creasey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rose Marie Creasey; and a brother, Michael Aubrey “Mickey” Creasey. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and worked at Rubatex for 35 years. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Brown Creasey, two sons, Jeffrey Creasey, Billy Creasey and wife Christine; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Rose Creasey.
