Joyce Rickman Porter, 65, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022. She was born in Bedford, VA on December 17, 1956 a daughter of the late Floyd Rickman and Hallie Goff Brevo. She is survived by her husband, Joseph William Porter; children, Steve Porter (Amy), Cindy Mayhew (Scotty), Mark Porter, Sheila Feagans (Kevin), Katherine Allen (James), Eric Rickman (Bonita); fourteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel, 1235 Walnut Street, Bedford with a graveside service immediately following the visitation in Peaks Community Church Cemetery. Joseph R. Lombard, 35, of Amherst, Virginia, died unexpectedly on June 4, 2022. He was born October 25, 1986 in Massachusetts to Diane V. Plummer of Virginia and Robert A. Lombard of Florida. He is preceded in death by his older brother, Jason A. Lombard. He leaves behind one sister, Jessica Phelps (Brett) of Evington, one brother Robert Demers of Texas and one nephew Noah Phelps. He was a 2005 graduate of Rustburg High School where he did shot-put and discus. Joe had many aspirations and enjoyed the outdoors. Hiking was his favorite past time with his buddies Ernie, Darrell, Nathan and Tommy. He also enjoyed playing the piano and composed his own music. No services will be held. Martha B. Ramsey ,80, of Amherst, VA passed peacefully at home on Saturday June 4, 2022. She was born on February 8, 1942 to Malcolm S. and Annie B. Bradley in Amherst, VA. She is survived by her beloved husband, Pat Ramsey, Jr. of 42 years; her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Samuel Campbell; two stepdaughters, Patricia Ramsey and Melissa Adkins; two grandchildren, Cameron Evans and Rachel Adkins; brother and sister-in-law, David and Hazel Bradley; sister, Thelma Davis and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents and stepfather, Rev. Frank H. Figgers Sr. She was well known for her artistic and culinary abilities, always offering a plate of food with a smile. However, her favorite hobby was traveling by Harley Davidson with her husband, Pat. She was a lifelong member of Oronoco Church of the Brethren, living her life with compassion and faith. The funeral service will be held on Thursday June 9,2022 at Oronoco Church of the Brethren. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with the service at 11 a.m. to be conducted by Rev. Arnold Bradley.
