Sandra (Sandye) Young Fifer, 79, of Bedford, VA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
Sandye loved her family, friends, country music, dancing and the Outer Banks of NC. She loved to hear her son in law, Calvin Lawhorn play with his band, Stone Country and she enjoyed her time as a Bedford Co. Deputy Sheriff.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Wayne Fifer, Sr., daughter, Amy Lynn Hise and son, Jesse Wayne Fifer, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Sammie Rae Lawhorn; sister, Terri Fort; brother, Rob Young; grandchildren, Dustin Fifer, Jessica Hartman, Cody Hise and Alan Calhoun; along with great-grandchildren, Becca and Elise Hartman, Everette and Mason Hise.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Sheriff Mike Miller for coming to her bedside to pray with her and reconfirm her faith.
There will be a private memorial gathering in the coming weeks.
If you wish to honor Sandye, the family requests donations to either Heartland Hospice or the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford.
