Charlotte Gayle Overstreet Hughes, 73, of Bedford, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024. She was born in Lynchburg, VA on December 12, 1950 a daughter of the late Lewis Overstreet and Helen Goff Witt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Otis “Buster” Hughes; son, John Adam Hughes; and brother, Danny Hogan. Gayle was a member of Living Water Baptist Church. She is survived by her children, Michael Hughes, James Hughes (Samantha), Joshua Hughes (Heather); sisters, Patsy Overstreet-Gutierrez (Francisco), Sharon Proffit (John); and grandchildren, Brooklynn Hughes, Layne Hughes, Adam Hughes, Bethany Hughes, Jessie Hughes, Taylor Ann Gallier, Laci Gallier, Hailey Gallier, and Jordan Gallier. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 Virginia Memorial Park with Pastor Daryl W. Donald, Sr. officiating.
