Ret. TSGT James Winfred Scarrow,76, of Blue Ridge, VA died Monday, November 16, 2020. He was born January 4, 1944 in Sarnia, Ontario Canada, a son of the late Clyde Scarrow and Olive Woods Scarrow. In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by his niece Brenda Hillis. In 1963 Jim crossed the Canada/US border to join the United States Air Force. Stationed in Texas, California, Kansas, Michigan, Virginia, Philippines, Maine, with two tours to Alaska, he retired there in 1983. Jim then worked for the Alaska Army Guard for 12 years. For 30 years Jim and Connie worked Alaska bazaars selling personalized ornaments. Jim loved talking to people at the craft shows. Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Connie Caniff Scarrow; Sister, Joan St. Marie; Brother, Jerry Scarrow; nieces; Nancy McRae, Janet Forsyth, and Lisa Turner; nephews; Brian, and Michael St.Marie; and numerous other family and Friends. He is also survived by his loyal cats Valley (who stayed by his side), Lily and Oreo. Sincere heartfelt thanks to the Amedisys Hospice staff who have lovingly cared for Jim over the past 11 months. As per Jim’s wishes he will not have a service but will be remembered at a later date in a memorial service at Shady Grove Baptist Church.
