Deborah Burton Maupin, 78, of Forest, VA, passed away peacefully and woke up in the arms of her Savior on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Born May 28, 1946, in Clifton Forge, VA, she was the daughter of the late Vera Lucille Jamerson Burton and Abrie Lee Burton, and the granddaughter of the late Edward and Florence Jamerson and the late Robert and Zora Burton. Many places were called home as her father was a manager at Leggett’s Department Store, a company that transferred him frequently. While living in Clifton Forge, Debbie attended Clifton Forge Baptist Church, and there she met her best friend, Marti. They remained lifetime friends. Debbie spent most of her teenage years in Waynesboro, VA. Debbie is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Thomas “Tommy” Maupin; her son, Todd; her step-daughter, Tracy (Steve); her grandsons, Christian and Jeb; and her step-grandson, Seth. She is also survived by her sister, Vera (Ralph); her special niece and nephew, Sarah and Greg; and many cousins and friends. Debbie loved her family very much and would do anything for them and never asked for anything in return but love. Debbie had a heart to serve and loved helping others. If it was an addict needing a treatment facility, someone needing a place to live, a homebound person needing a friend, or a neighbor needing a home-cooked meal, she was always eager and willing to help. Debbie and Tommy were members of Thomas Road Baptist Church. It is their desire that anyone who does not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, to please ask Him into their heart and to find a good Bible believing and teaching church to attend. Upon Debbie’s request, a private celebration of life service will be held at a future time. We, Debbie’s family, would like to thank Dr. Asthagiri and his team at UVA and Gentiva Hospice for their services and care for Debbie. Now a special request from Debbie: “To my three grandsons, who knew me best; with every diet coke and every Little Debbie cake, remember that Maw Maw loved you to the moon and back.” Arrangements by Burch-Messier Funeral Home, Bedford, 540-586-7360.
