Betty White Woolfolk, 77, of Bedford, passed peacefully at home on March 27, 2021.  Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Lee Woolfolk.  One of 11 siblings, Betty was the last remaining child of the late Asa Russell White and Nora Orange White. Betty is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Markham, and Gregory Markham; a granddaughter, Summer Markham; three sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families each of whom she loved fiercely, including a niece, Bonnie Carter who looked after her in countless ways.  Betty had also come to consider her three primary caretakers as family, as well as her nurses with Bedford Hospice.  A retired Bedford County school bus driver, Betty often reminisced about all the children she had known and enjoyed hearing about their successes and the families they had raised.  Immediately after retirement, Betty and Irvin enjoyed multiple tours throughout the country via motorhome, making numerous friends, but always found greatest pleasure in returning to the Bedford farm.  When not on the road, Betty was inseparable from her sisters, in particular her twin, JoAnn with whom she shared a home in their final years, and all came to know you did not see one without the other.  Mention must also be made of JoAnn’s late husband Johnny Barfield whom she thought of as another White sibling, and her surviving cousin Ronnie Orange a lifelong best friend.  Betty loved her church, Cool Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church, her Taylor’s Mountain heritage, and was never shy to tell of how well her father Asa had raised their family.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Oakwood Cemetery with Pastor Eric Pennington and Dr. Rusty Craig officiating.  The family will receive friends at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers please consider memorial donations to Cool Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church or Centra Bedford Hospice. Arrangements by Burch-Messier Funeral Home, Bedford, 540-586-7360.
