Martha Jones Cousins lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on November 5, 2021. The outcome of this battle was never in question, but Martha never shied away from a fight, and she was able to kick some serious cancer butt over the last 20 months. Martha was born in Pulaski, Virginia and attended Brookville High School and Guilford College. Martha spent her life immersed in love. She loved her family deeply and had the most loving parents anyone could ask for: Ralph F. Jones, Sr. (Daddy Ralph) and Ruth Jenkins Jones (Nonnie). In addition to her parents, Martha was predeceased by three brothers: Ralph F Jones, Jr (Frankie), Michael B Jones, Sr., and Stephen E. Jones, Sr. She is survived by her best friend, loving husband of 47 years, and love of her life since seventh grade, John Paul Cousins, and by the world’s best sister, Teresa Jones Moldenhauer (Mike). In addition to her immediate family, Martha loved all her aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, in-laws, and those who weren’t related by blood but were family all the same. She was also blessed with wonderful friends whom she loved deeply. Her husband, family, and friends supported her throughout her illness, and she was so grateful. Martha also loved gardening and became a Master Gardener in 2009. She loved music and believed it could save your mortal soul. She loved reading, singing, decorating, crafting, eating and laughing. She loved making new friends and learning new things. These are the words Martha tried to live by: “Love and kindness are never wasted. They always make a difference. They bless the one who receives them, and they bless you, the giver.” In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Alan B.
