Micheal Wayne Puckett, 46, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, Nov 14th, 2020 following a brief battle with cancer. Micheal was a graduate of Liberty High School in Bedford; a long-time employee and manager at Walmart; and currently an assistant manager at Lowe’s in Roanoke. Micheal was preceded in death by his mother, Lucy Paulette Puckett, and brother-in-law, Tony Bryant. He is survived by his spouse, Cody Hudson; father, Henry Shelton Puckett; three sisters, Teresa Bryant, Leona Phillips (Rodney), Debra Sprouse (Chris); numerous nieces, nephews and their children; and best friend, Roger Dick. Due to COVID restrictions, a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Clifton “Cliff” Carroll Belknap born February 24, 1932 passed from this life on November 11, 2020 at the age of 88. Originally from Parkersburg, WV Cliff retired to Bedford, VA for the past 33 years.  He served four years (1950- 1954) in the Air Force during the Korean War conflict. His love of planes landed him a job as an airplane mechanic where he paid for his own flight lessons during his off time. He eventually was hired on as a commercial copilot and then later pilot for Eastern Airlines.  A devout Christian and active member in his church while in Bethlehem, PA and also in Bedford and Botetourt, Cliff now soars with his Lord and Savior above the clouds. Cliff is survived by his wife Betty of 62 years; his daughter, Stephanie and son-in-law Brad Thomas of Williamsburg, VA; granddaughter, Emily and Navy lieutenant Alex Kelly of Slidell, LA; granddaughter, Autumn Thomas of Williamsburg, VA; and three great-grandsons, Aaron, Braelyn, and Tavenner. A family gathering will be held at Burch-Messier chapel on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 11:30 AM followed by a graveside service at 1 PM for friends and family at Virginia Memorial Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be sent to either Centra Bedford Hospice, the American Heart Association, or the American Parkinson Disease Association. Daniel Wayne “Bubba” Chambers, 26, of Bedford, died Saturday, November 7, 2020. He was born in Bedford, VA on January 31, 1994, a son of Manning Edward “Ed” Chambers, Jr. and April Dawn Chambers. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Manning E. Chambers, Sr. and Mary Chambers; maternal grandmother, Nancy Evans; and aunt, Mary Shomate. In addition to his parents he is survived by his children, Sophia Ann Chambers, Abraham Odell Chambers; brothers, Manning E. “Peanut” Chambers, Dustin Perdue and wife, Amber; sister, Kandice Alderman Walz and husband, James; maternal grandfather, Dickie Witt and wife, Debra; aunts, Tina DeWitt and husband, Jimmy, Stephanie Nichols and husband, Mack, Jennifer Schier and husband, Doug, Meagan Witt and Jonathan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Patricia Goddard Marlar (Age 95) Entered into her new life on November 7, 2020. Cherished Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Born September 22, 1925, in New York City to the late Evelyn Brister Goddard and Samuel Dalton Goddard. Preceded in death by beloved husband, Harry; son Daniel, and sisters, Sybil Blood and Irene McMahon. Surrounded by her family and her faithful pup “Ladybug”, Aunt Ginny walked into the arms of Jesus and reunited with her dear husband and sweet daughter on November 6, 2020. Virginia Elizabeth Campbell Manley, 89 years, was born in Amherst, Virginia on August 9, 1931, a daughter of the late Joshua Edward Campbell and Oly Lee Maddox Campbell. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lloyd Manley and daughter, Barbara Jean Manley Snead. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lena Angus, Ruby Mays, Betty Davis and brothers, Herbert, Henry, and Ed Campbell. Left to cherish her memory is her granddaughter, Tracy Lynn Howell McDermott and husband Pete. She is also survived by a sister, Effie Mays of Lovingston, Virginia and a brother, Clayton Campbell & wife Betty of Stuarts Draft, Virginia. She leaves behind a sister-in-law, Julie Heck Manley of Bedford, Virginia. There are numerous nieces and nephews left behind to cherish her memories. Gene R. McCullough of Hardy, VA passed away at home at the age of 90 on Wednesday, November 4, 2020. He was born in St. Louis on June 1, 1930, a son of the late Paul Randle McCullough and Marie Lasater McCullough. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his best friend and love if his life, his wife of 64 years, Sandra J. McCullough; son, Michael D. McCullough; and grandson, Jason R. Perala. Dad accomplished many things in his life, beginning in his high school years he was a gymnast, competing on the parallel bars and rings. He then served his country proudly in the United States Army. Dad was transferred and moved his family from St. Louis, MO to begin their new life in Roanoke, VA. He retired as a traffic manager and worked in the offices at Norfolk & Southern. His railroad career began with the Wabash Railroad, then Norfolk & Western. He retired after 37 years of service with the railroad. But best of all, he was just a fabulous father who was always there for you and made time for his family. After retirement, mom and dad moved to Smith Mountain Lake in Huddleston. They became parishioners of Resurrection Catholic Church in Moneta, VA and were amongst others were one of the first parishioners of this church. Dad was a member of Resurrection’s Tuesday’s men’s group and successfully organized Joyous Junque, a major fundraiser for Resurrection for many years. His warm heart, gentle smile and comical wit will be greatly missed. He is survived by his children, Mark McCullough (Marsha) of Durango, CO, Karin Perala of Hardy, VA, Terri Marsh (Doug) of New Castle, VA; grandchildren, Kimberly McCullough, Crystal Spence (Ryan); and great-grandchildren, Matthew and Brandon McCullough, Ella and Cole Spence. Betty Nester Goff, best known as “Nanny” 79, of Big Island, died Tuesday, November 3, 2020. She was born in Bedford, VA on September 8, 1941, a daughter of the late Sidney Ray Nester and Gertrude Creasy. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Booker Goff; and son, Gordon Michael Goff. Benny Monroe Vestal, 67, of Lynchburg, died Sunday, November 1, 2020. He was born in North Carolina on October 30, 1953, a son of the late Allen Vestal and Betty Brothers Vestal. He was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church and the owner of Neighbors Heating & Air Company. Benny is survived by his wife of 38 years, Robin Price Vestal; four children, Cassidy Payne and husband John, Benjamin Vestal and wife Meghan, Courtney Hooten and husband Nathaniel, Dylan Vestal and wife Keren; six grandchildren; brothers, Lee Vestal and wife Sue, Mark Vestal and wife Donna; and sister, Lori Craig and husband Dwayne.
