Stephen Wayne Wright,70, of Big Island, VA died Tuesday July 7, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father Wayne R. Wright. He is survived by his mother Mrs Ann B. Patrick Allen Poindexter, 54, of Goode died Monday, July 6, 2020. He was born in Bedford on March 17, 1966 a son of the late Shirley N. Poindexter and Anna Atkinson Poindexter; in addition to his parents, Patrick was preceded in death by his brother, Tony Poindexter. Patrick is survived by fiancée Lala Chappelle; son Cody Poindexter and girlfriend Kieran Fraley; daughter Megan Poindexter and fiancé Christopher Allen; grandchildren, Larissa Clutter, Luna Allen; brother Jerry Poindexter; and numerous other family and friends.  Patrick loved working on old cars, hunting and fishing and his job at Arms Precision Machinery.  He was a man who worked his whole life and enjoyed life to the fullest.  A family visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2020 at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel; 1235 Walnut Street, Bedford.  Burch Messier Funeral Home, Bedford (540-586-7360) is assisting the family.  

 

Josephine (Jo) Bartlett Beahm, 86, of Bedford, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday, July 6, 2020 at her home.  She was born in Webster Springs, WV on February 24, 1934, a daughter of the late, Paul Bartlett and Lenore Bryan Bartlett.  She was a retired Program Analyst Officer with the Department of the Army from whom she received multiple commendations. She was passionate about serving in her churches, and integral in the music ministries. She was a dedicated Hospice volunteer, making weekly comfort calls to patients.   Many were blessed by her gift of Hospitality.  Jo is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Raymond Franklin (Frank) Beahm; her daughter, Linda Beahm, MD; her son, Bradley Beahm and his wife, Jeanine; her grandchildren, Eli Fraley, Nathan Fraley, and Kevin Beahm and his wife Maeghan; her great-grandson, Rhodes Everett Beahm; and her niece, Donna Sherwood, who is as close as a daughter.   The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel, 1235 Walnut Street, Bedford.  A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Word of Life Evangelical Church, 912 Burks Hill Rd.  Bedford. Randy Curtis Gray, 71, of Bedford, died Friday, July 3, 2020 in Lynchburg General Hospital.  He was born in Bedford on September 13, 1948 a son of the late, Carl Chesterfield Gray and Louise Elizabeth Gardner Gray.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sister, Betty Jean Bowden; and a brother, Carl Gray.  He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbara Ann Savinsky Gray; two sisters, Frances Underwood and husband, James; and Doris Williams; his nieces, Judy Andrews, Jennifer Wilkerson, Angel Hurd, Debbie Horner, Laura Ann Mitchell, Janet Buttram, Rebecca Brundidge, Katelyn Savinsky and Amber Houston; his nephews, Bobby Williams, Christopher Gray, Rodney Gray, Kenneth Savinsky and Zachary Houston; his in-laws, Sandy and Neil Brundidge, Linda and Aaron Houston and David and Robin Savinsky. Barbara Gaye Daniels, Mom/Mawmaw, born October 4, 1952, sixteenth of 16 children of Ray and Ethel Daniels, of Bedford, passed away, Friday, July 3, 2020 at Bedford County Nursing Home.  She is survived by her daughter, Tamatha Cox and husband, Damon; her grandkids, Camon and Carli; a son, Scott Burks and wife, Rachel; two brothers, Eldo and Clifton Daniels; a sister, Priscilla Vaughan; many nieces and nephews, family and friends.  Barbara loved many things, especially gardening, Pow Wows and Christmas, but her most cherished was her beloved dog, Squanto, who passed away in October 2019.  The family requests no flowers but if you would like to make a donation to the Humane Society of your choice in her name.  Arrangements by Burch-Messier Funeral Home, Bedford, 540-586-7360.

 

Carolyn Goff Overstreet, 70, of Bedford, died Thursday, July 2, 2020. She was born in Bedford, VA on March 22, 1950 a daughter of the late Ralph Goff and Lelia Wislon Goff. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Patton Montgomery Overstreet; two brothers, Roger Goff and Lynwood Goff. She is survived by her two daughters, Lelia Hyatt and husband Bill, Marsha Lauer and husband Paul; son, Patrick Overstreet and wife Lacy; grandchildren, Sabrina Hyatt, Sarah Hyatt, Adam Lauer and wife Emilee, Catherine Overstreet and fiancé Matthew, Hunter Overstreet, Cole Oversreet, Madison, Christian, Morgan, and Maxwell Sims; great-grandchildren, Paxton Wolhfert, Piper Berg, Tillie Lauer; and sisters, Doris (James) Burton, Debbie Goff, Ellen (Eldred) Mabry, and Nadine (John) Kennedy and many nieces and nephews.
